The Parottee Citizens Association Benevolent Society seeks to promote good citizenship, to expose local resources and talents, and to make the opportunity of community development a reality; thereby improving the social, economic, and spiritual fabric of the community for the benefit of all residents.
![]() PAROTTEE CITIZENS’ ASSOCIATION BENEVOLENT SOCIETY The Society was established in August 2004 by a small number of citizens who felt the community had no voice and was inadequately represented. The organization achieved registration as a Benevolent Society from the Department of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies (attached to the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce on 24th November 2005. The Society has been able to access local and international funding for the development projects it has undertaken since its inception. Funding from the Canadian International Development Agency and the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica (EFJ) has provided modernization of our previously dilapidated Basic School. From the EFJ we have also been funded to develop a community Park where citizens can meet and conduct leisure activities. This development offers many possibilities for social and economic development. In 2007 the Society won the Parish Prize for the BEST community in a competition funded by the Digicel Foundation and in 2008 the Society won two Sectional Prizes for the Parish under the categories “Self Reliance” and “Culture and Heritage”. Despite the harsh economic climate, the Society is continuing its mission to beautify out community and develop its resources and talents.
